The thoughts of the Golden Gloves family are with two prominent local boxing families.
The first is Joshua Studdard, the prospect whose father Rocky succumbed to illness on Thursday morning.
After beating Mthobisi Nkosi earlier this month, Studdard dedicated his win to his father, who was in hospital.
In another blow to the local fight game, ailing Shona MacTaggart, the matriarch of SA boxing given her yeoman work for Golden Gloves over many years, was admitted to a local hospice this week. She, too, has been desperately ill.
“Our thoughts are with Shona and her family at this difficult time,” said Rodney Berman of Golden Gloves. “Our sympathies also go to the Studdard family.”
