Putting aside their self-interest, both Rodney Berman and Brian Mitchell believe that Kevin Lerena has the beating of Micki Nielsen.

The pair will clash in the mouth-watering “Super Four” final in October.

Berman said Lerena would have “no problem” dispatching the unbeaten Dane, saying Nielsen’s lack of movement would be pounced on by Lerena.

Nielsen outlasted Johnny Muller in their 10-rounder, but it was his power rather than his movement that was evident.

Lerena beat Bolonti, showing improved skills and fight management against a veteran who knows all the tricks.

“Nielsen looked good. He takes a shot nicely,” said former world champion Mitchell, now publicist for Golden Gloves. “I thought the altitude would get to him, but he showed the value of arriving early and preparing well. [Trainer] Joey Gamache has done a nice job. But Nielsen is a bit flat-footed and this is where I think Kevin will capitalise.”

Mitchell said that Lerena’s skills were better than he had first believed and if Nielsen was unable to knock Muller out he won’t have much luck of stopping Lerena.

“Kevin was very polished. Peter Smith has worked nicely on his skills. Kevin will have the edge. It will be tough, but I think he wins on points. Kevin isn’t a puncher, but he follows through nicely and does most things well. It will be a great final in which my money will be on Kevin.”
