Showstoppers takes final shape

Eight all-action fights on a Sunday afternoon with entertainment aplenty.

This is what will be on offer at Emperors Palace on April 23 when “Showstoppers” takes place.

The tournament is topped by the SA welterweight title fight between champion Shaun Ness and unbeaten Thulani Mbenge. In the chief undercard bout, fast-rising Lucky Monyebane faces veteran Ashley Dlamini in a Gauteng title fight that will tell us all about Monyebane’s prospects at a higher level.

Earlier, DeeJay Kriel faces dangerous southpaw Xolisa Magusha at strawweight.

The remainder of the bill includes a crop of exciting youngsters, who will all be clamouring for attention. They include light-heavyweight Rowan Campbell, pro debutant Ricky Tshabalala (the reigning SA amateur light-heavyweight champion), Troy de Paiva and Jabulani Makhense.

“We’re always on the lookout for new talent,” said Rodney Berman. “I can confidently say that plenty of it will be showcased on the 23rd. Remember the names – these are the guys we’ll be talking about in years to come.”
