Bump in the road is good news for Kriel

A hand injury suffered by SA super-middleweight champion Lee Dyer has put a kaibosh on the super-middleweight Super Four tournament, scheduled to begin in October.

Dyer was slated to face Alfonso Tissen in a rematch of their entertaining scrap earlier this year.

Undeterred, promoter Rodney Berman is simply re-jigging his plans. He’ll still have Ryno Liebenberg fight up and coming Patrick Mukala on the undercard for the featherweight Super Four in October. This will constitute the first fight of the Super Four.

Last weekend Mukala picked up another win, taking him to a solid 9-0.

Dyer will then fight on Jeff Ellis’ “Christmas Cracker” event in December with the final still taking place in February.

Given the changes, Berman has also decided to match Kriel in the first defence of his WBC International minimumweight title.
