Deon Dwarte, one of world boxing’s most respected young officials, will be the third man in the ring when Thulani Mbenge fights for the IBO welterweight championship against Diego Chaves at Emperors Palace on June 23.
The South African has secured some major appointments in recent years, his firm hand and good communication skills coming to the fore. Two years ago, he judged an Anthony Joshua heavyweight championship fight and has been involved with many top bouts featuring fighters like Isaac Dogboe, Kevin Lerena and Gervonta Davis.
The judges are the experienced Terrance Makaluza (SA), Jean Robert Laine (Monaco) and John Shipanuka (Zambia).
SA’s Andile Matika will be the IBO supervisor.
