There are 39 South African fighters rated by the International Boxing Organisation who list 100 fighters in each division, and state that they are the only sanctioning body with unbiased computerised rankings.
Four South Africans hold IBO belts – cruiserweight Levin Lerena, welterweight Thulane Mbenge, junior-bantamweight Gideon Buthelezi and minimumweight Simpiwe Konkco.
Most of the fighters rated are in the lighter divisions with only Thabiso Mchunu at number 21 in the cruiserweight class and Ryno Liebenberg at 49 at light-heavyweight.
However, Liebenberg is now fighting at super-middleweight.
Former South African and IBO champion Chris van Heerden, who is campaigning in the United States, is at number 25 and Tsiko Mulovhedzi, also a former IBO welterweight champion, is rated 50th.
In the lightweights, Ayanda Nkosi is listed number five.
In the junior-lightweight class we have Azinga Fuzile (24), Malcolm Klassen (38) and Phila Mpontshana (39).
At featherweight, four South Africans are listed: Lerato Dlamini (16), Rofhiwa Maemu (41), Sydney Maluleka (58) and Lusanda Kominisi (66).
In the junior-bantamweight class three fighters are rated: Yanga Sigqibo (25), Lindile Tshemese (53) and Siko Nqothole (55).
Among the flyweights are Thembelani Nxoshe (49), Jackson Chauke (58), Nhlanhla Ngamntwini (59) and Xolisile Voyi (97).
In the light-flyweights we have Siyabonga Siyo (44), Mpho Seforo (48), Fikile Mlonyeni (55), Thabang Ramagole (74) and Luyanda Kwanka (88).
At minimumweight a number of South Africans feature with Deejay Kriel at a high number six.
Others rated in this division are Siphamandla Baleni (18), Ayanda Dulani (20), Loyiso Ngantwini (40), Xolisa Magusha (41), Bangile Nyangani (46), Kanyiso Siko (68), Simnikwe Combo (69), who last fought in August 2017 according to Boxrec, Siphosethu Ncisane (77), who had his last fight in September 2017, Daluxolo Mancotywa (78), Thembelani Okole (79), Gaveni Nkwenteni (85), Nyelsani Thayambega (93), Phumlani Maloni (99) and Thandolwethu Hlangani, who just makes it at number 100.
