Forty rounds of action have been scheduled, but given the nature of past events, you can bank on knockouts reducing that number when “Thunder and Frightening” takes place at Emperors Palace on October 21.

The finishing touches are being put on the event, but the seven-fight line-up is provisionally in place.

In the main event, unbeaten Jabulani Makhense and Gift Bholo do battle for the Gauteng junior-welterweight championship. And in the co-main event, Lucky Monyebane and Paul Mangxilana will tangle for the provincial junior-lightweight belt.

Boyd Allen’s much-awaited pro debut will also highlight the afternoon – he fights Lybon Ntshani – and then it’s the turn of the youngsters with former six-time SA amateur champion Ricardo Malajika having already earned much attention. Anton Gilmore, his trainer, has promised something special for boxing fans.

Exciting cruiserweight Keaton Gomes will go for win number three in as many months when he fights Wikus Ludeke.

Welterweight Tristan Truter, who has a fight elsewhere this week, will also feature (against Sibonelo Nzimande) and Michael Markram will be looking to bounce back from a razor-thin decision loss. He fights Mandla Mpofu in a light-heavyweight four-rounder.
