‘Golden Boy’ Rewarded With Spot On ESPN Bill In The USA!

IBO world super middleweight champion Isaac “The Golden Boy” Chilemba (15-1-1, with 8 knockouts), fresh from his title-saving, 12-round points draw with  Tommy “Tommy Gun” Oosthuizen (11-0-1, with 8 knockouts) at Emperors Palace last Saturday night, will be rewarded for his efforts by featuring prominently on a ESPN televised bill in the USA in either March or April. “As the IBO world champion and the owner of a really respectable record, Isaac deserves no less” said Golden Gloves Promoter Rodney Berman. It is known that Berman has been eyeing some of the other world super middleweight champions in the hope of perhaps staging a unification match later next year but he feels that the powerful Chilemba, at age 23 still has plenty of time with which to solidify and strengthen his record.. “When one considers the super middleweights out there, it becomes patently clear that our Golden Boy and Oosthuizen are competing in an explosive division and yet I’ve no doubt that either one of ours (Tommy or Isaac) can hold his own against guys like Lucien Bute, who is often regarded as the best of the super middleweights”

A clever-boxer with a fine jab and lightning fast counter-punchers, Chilemba has come on well under new coach Elias Tshabalala and manager Jody Solomons and is considered one of the best lb for lb fighters in South Africa at present.

Bermam’s American business associate Art Pellulo of Banner Promotions has likewise shown a fine degree of interest in Chilemba, especially after his draw with Oosthuizen, who’s considered a natural whizzkid in the super middleweight ranks”.

Isaac and Tommy need at least another 12 more fights against upper echelon opposition before even being considered worth of a shot at the likes of Bute and the rest of the guys in the Super 6.

Bute would destroy either rather easily right now.

Im sorry but i cannit agree with you Mr T, Brute would walk all over them. A good test for Isaac would be a match up against Brinkley who recently got his ass kicked by Brute. Brinkley is tough but limited and will be a good test for the Golden Boy to see how far he has to go before challenging the top guys.

I would start with guys like Edison Miranda, Jesse Brinkly, Kingsley Ikeke, Allan Green,Brian Magee, Librado Andrade – they would be good winable tests for them. These are all guys with records and most importantly fairly highly rated.

@ Classy – Tommy needs the basics drilled into him before he can be matched against any of the guys you have named. Harold Volbrecht, who was a fine technical fighter in his day, has been remiss in not forcing Tommy to keep his guard up, and not making him learn how to bob, weave, and duck. For all his power and hand speed, Tommy’s chin is a stationary target.

Let Tommy fight Gare,This fight will settle his nerves and get him back on track.Either a rematch with Isaac or look at Classy’s opponents there are a couple of guys with a good world ranking. In S.A. there are no more guys to fight Tommy or Isaac.

Since they say his a world class boxer(but could do nothing to Tommy)I hope it is someone in the top 20 in the world ratings,so he can prove us wrong that don’t believe in him as a world class boxer.

I think Former Super Middleweight SA/IBO Intercontinetal Champ, and current WBO Middleweight all africa champ,Peter Mashamaite can give Isaac a hustle, and it can really be a croud pulling fight, and they know about it.Starting this boy here at home with true champs, can give them experince and have heart going in the ring with big names out there.
