“Storm” Picks Oosthuizen To Outgun Chilembe!

Embattled light heavyweight drawcard Jared “The Storm” Lovett may still be twelve months away from resuming his career, after being slapped with a two-year ban for steroids, but the charismatic Southern Suburbs fighter is still as confident as ever. Indeed while Lovett is now being forced to take in the action as an everyday fan, one senses that this devilishly handsome young man would like nothing better than reinventing his future in the roped square! “Jared has learned a very important lesson” said the Storm’s father Aubrey, “and I know he’ll return as a newborn fighter”.

Meanwhile the 23-year-old Lovett has wasted little time bemoaning his fate and wants nothing more than establishing himself as a future world champion. “I know I can do it” said the music loving Lovett, whose only setback in the professional ranks was a split points decision defeat to current WBA Pan African super middleweight king Tommy “Tommy Gun” Oosthuizen. “Yeah sure I’d love to fight him (Oosthuizen) again” quipped Lovett, “but for now all I’m concentrating on is getting my career back on a winning track”.

It was inevitable that your scribe sought the Storm’s take on the forthcoming championship shootout at Emperors Palace in November between IBO world super middleweight champion Isaac “The Golden Boy” Chilembe and Oosthuizen, who’s presently recovering from a motor car accident.

“I’m actually close to Isaac as a person and we sparred a lot when we were stable mates at the Hotbox gymnasium” said Lovett. “Yet I’ve also been in there (the ring) with Oosthuizen and feel that his deceptive defence and accurate counter punching gives him a perceptible edge in what should be a hard-fought twelve round fight”. That Chilembe figures to go the distance against the big hitting Tommy Gun, is however something Lovett would bet on. “Chilembe’s blows carry a lot of zip and sting but I doubt whether he has the potency of clout to seriously trouble Tommy, who I must add takes a good crack on the whiskers. Mind you, Isaac is a really clever boxer and let’s not forget that Chilembe and Oosthuizen have sparred a great deal in the past”. Lovett also pointed out that becoming a world champion often acts as a huge boost to any fighter and he certainly expects the Golden Boy to give Oosthuizen a whale of a fight. “There’s no way that Isaac will become gun shy and while most folk on the East Rand are seemingly tipping a stoppage victory for Oosthuizen, I believe they are wrong. Yes, I envisage Oosthuizen winning, but only after a gruelling fight that will seesaw back and forth”.

The fight will probabaly be just like the Oosthuizen vs. Lovett fight. Both fighters so weary of the other that nothing happens. If Isaac is fit, it’ll end in a tame points victory for Tommy, if Isaac comes in out of shape, TKO for Tommy.

The first eight rounds Tommy will out box Chilmbe. then Isaac will realise he’s losing this bout, running in to mix with the Tommy, and just there and then he’ll make the mistake walking into a big straight left.
    Good Night Isaac.

Personally I feel that Lovett is on the money! The Chilemba/Oosthuizen fight will be a terrific encounter between two excellent boxers with understated potential.

This fight is alot closer then all of you have given Isaac credit for. saac has never been knocked out…has he ever been floored? Im not sure to be honest.

Lovett is just a bulldog. Big, strong, tough but devoid of any true boxing skill and after all the things he said he was going to do to Tommy before their fight he left me feeling short changed. He needs to be managed VERY carefully!

Britt you couldn’t have put it better.I see the fight the same way.Maybe Isaac surprise us how knows.Lovett will say Tommy because he lost against Tommy and he know what Tommy is made off.Classy, you right Lovett need to be managed carefully & the way to start is to leave his trainer(father). To have your DAD in the conner never been a good thing.I saw Lovett last by Harold and I hope he go back there and leave his DAD at home.Aubry you mean good but let your son box and take advice from someone els.
