It might be very early days but Golden Gloves Promoter Rodney Berman has likened Johnny “Hurricane” Muller to a young Rocky Graziano! Indeed, like the fiery former world middleweight champion of “Somebody Up There Likes Me” the 19-year-old Muller is a rough-and-tumble fighter with a trip-hammer right hand and though a natural cruiserweight, the powerfully built Muller has leveled several men much heavier than himself. “Muller has that ‘take-no-prisoners’ outlook, much like Graziano did and his whole mindset revolves around offense and demolition” said Berman.
One of GGP”s latest recruits, Muller will feature on the “GUNNING FOR GLORY” bill at Emperors Palace on April 27 where he’ll make his debut under the auspices of African Ring and GGP who collectively host the event, which is another Box & Dine tournament. South Africa’s most succesful promoter of all time, Berman is obviously excited about Muller’s level of potential and believes that trainer Harold Volbrecht will bring out the best in him. “This kid can conceivably become one of South Africa’s most dynamic entertainers and while he definitely needs to sharpen up his defensive tools, who among us really expects to hear Elvis sing like Caruso?”
Bearing that in mind, Berman, like thousands of other Muller acolytes is expectantly awaiting the Hurricane’s next fight and believes that he’ll be a huge crowd puller at Emperors Palace, where he’s already stopped both Sheldon Human and Robbie Lombard.
“The knockout he posted over Lombard was frightening, to say the least, and we’re looking to bring Johnny along in a fashion that will ideally compliment his wealth of potential”.

So right, Johnny believes in “take no prisoners” in the ring but such a gentleman towards those he has knocked out after the match. I saw him refusing to leave the ring the night he knocked out Robbie Lombaard cold until he saw Robbie was ok and got up. Wow.

Seems like Muller is on the road to success if he carries on like this. I enjoy his fights, lots of explosive action. He’s had a tough right against Wiseman but if you take his age and experience againse that of Wiseman, this young guy is going places for sure.
