Golden GLOVES Promoter Rodney Berman has assured his heavyweight starlet Flo “The Demolition Man” Simba that providing he stops the rugged Stephen “The Warrior” Castle on February 27 at Emperors Palace, he’ll be on his way to fame and fortune. “Flo will, however, need to convince me that he’s got the necessary credentials -this early in his blossoming career- to be afforded international exposure both in Britain and the USA. Berman has close business ties with Banner Promotions in America and also has an amiable relationship with Ricky Hatton Promotions in England.
A rookie professional at best, the 20-year-old Simba has had a meteoric rise to prominence after just two professional outings, both of which he won in the opening round and Berman’s hope of producing a homespun black world heavyweight champion could rest squarely on his perfectly proportioned shoulders.
“Castle is a pretty useful performer” said Simba’s manager Brian Mitchell, “but hey…he’s simply not in my guy’s class and I’m saying for the umteenth time that Castle will be back in his dressing room, a bit the worse for wear, inside of two rounds”.
The most lucrative 4-round fight in the annals of SA boxing, Simba versus Castle is one of two preliminary bouts on the Emperors Palace “PRELUDE” championship bill and its been noteworthy how many fans have focused much of their interest on the heavyweight clash.
Not that the IBO world junior flyweight battle between Hekkie “The Hex-ecutioner” Budler and Juanito Rubillar has been short of support, or the WBA title bouts involving Jason “Badman” Bedeman (Vs Bilal Mohammed) and Tommy “Tommy Gun” Oosthuizen (versus John Chibuta). Then too, WBA intercontinental bantamweight boss Tshifhiwa Munyai will be defending his title on the night against Daniel ferreras of the Philippines.
Yet in terms of the heavyweight bout, its hard not to be captivated by the match and despite being 38-years-old, the hard fighting Castle (5-1-2) has thus far garnered immense public support and could even enter the ring as a betting favourite.
“Whatever happens, I’ll upset the apple-cart on the night” said a confident Castle.

How do they say in the so called message language “LOL”
I don’t think that Mr. castle will be prepared for the rapid moving “simba” in fact now that I’m thinking about it Flo should win this fight by T.K.O or in the Last round or late 2nd.
I maybe be prove otherwise but my “gut feeling “says Flo is going to make a difference in South African boxing. I take nothing away from Mr. Castle but honestly i think Flo, he’ll. Be victorious on the night of 28th February.

I wish them both well but still wonder why Stephen Castle was challenged and not Johnny Muller who, with all due respect to Stephen, is the better heavyweight. Makes you think….

I agree Martin, lets see if he has the nerve and the guts to challenge Johnny Muller.

Simba has both the nerve and guts to fight young Mr Muller…but since we at GGP select who and when he fights in order to hone his rapidly developing talent to perfection, talk of a Simba vs Muller fight is at this point pure speculation. If we ever do decide to accomodate the exciting Muller, you’ll be informed on this website ahead of anyone else!
