Zambia’s John “Hammer” Chibuta (8-3) is determind to pop the bubble that has been built around unbeaten WBA Pan Africa super middleweight champion Tommy “Tommy Gun” Oosthuizen (9-0) when they meet at Emperors Palace on February 27. Moreover, the Lusaka-based boxer, whose already held the ABU junior middleweight title, believes that he has the speed and skill to deflate the Boksburg southpaw inside 12 rounds. “Okay so John lost on a late round TKO to Zaurbek Baysangurov when they fought for the IBF Youth junior middleweight crown” said a spokesman for the Chibuta camp, “but a lot has changed since then and John is also a lot heavier and stronger than he was two years ago. I think Oosthuizen may be in for a rude awakening”.
Having won three titles in 2009, Oosthuizen is certainly one of this country’s leading prospects for world honours, and Golden Gloves Promoter Rodney Berman has made no secret of his intentions in this regard.
“Tommy is en route to a world title eliminator and after that we’ll really be in business” said Berman.
While in sparring sessions with heavyweight Flo “The Demolition Man” Simba and WBA Intercontinental light heavyweight champion Isaac “The Golden Boy” Chilemba, the lanky Oosthuizen has really had his work cut out for him, trainer Volbrecht -who ironically also had the nickname “Hammer” – feels that the tougher the workouts, the easier the actual fight!
“Isaac and Flo hold nothing back, I assure you, and Tommy matches them…punch for punch…he’s quite amazing for a super middleweight”.
Yet let us take nothing away from the man Oosthuizen is about to fight and GGP matchmaker Ruben Rasodi assures us that Chibuta is “a rugged and tricky customer who purportedly loves fighting southpaws”.
This particular southpaw, however, could change all that !

Terry could you please write a post fight article on how one cannot burst anyone’s bubble if you don’t “fight” them. If Chibuta ever fights again, I am not wasting my money on a ticket, no matter who his opponent is.
