Demolition Man Proves He Can Take A Heavyweight Whallop!

Flo “The Demolition Man” Simba (5-0, with 4 knockouts) proved conclusively on Saturday night at Emperors Palace that he can withstand a jolting crack on the whiskers. “Elvis Moyo really unloaded on Flo, just like he said he would, but my guy took his best shot and came back for more” said Simba’s manager Brian Mitchell. “Moreover whereas everyone is commenting on the fact that Flo had to go all six rounds, they seem to be conveniently forgetting that he (Simba) won the fight by a mile, scoring three knockdowns in the process”

Golden Gloves Promoter Rodney Berman feels much the same way and pointed to the fact that every young heavyweight sensation loses his knockout streak at one time or another. “True Flo had to settle for a points victory but what’s the big fuzz?” asked Berman. “Every top prospect comes across some guy he can’t knock out, but now that Simba has gone the distance for the very first time the weight of maintaining that KO streak has thankfully been lifted from his shoulders. Hey, remember that the great Cassius Clay (Muhammad Ali) only scored a knockout in his second professional fight before again being forced to go the route his seventh outing.”

Berman added, “Even the murderous punching Sonny Liston, one of boxing’s heftiest swatters of all time, started his career with just two knockouts in his first seven fights but that never prevented him from becoming one of the most fearsome hitters that ever lived”.

Trainer Harold Volbrecht believes the fact that Elvis Moyo stood up to Simba and even managed to rattle the Demolition Man on two occasions should not be seen in a negative light but rather as a positive sign of Simba’s durability. “All heavyweights can hit and though Flo really got shook by one of Elvis’s shots he showed resilience and courage to avoid hitting the canvas en route to pounding out a decisive victory.”

The final word came from GGP director Gary Pretorius who said, “Our plans for Flo are proceeding according to plan and on Saturday night he once again underlined our faith in him. Moyo really came ‘to fight’ and should be applauded for his heroic efforts, while Flo notched up another important win on his belt. I say important because every fight is a learning curve and thus far young Flo is handling the curves and bends exceptionally well’.

Welcome back Terry, I think we all just didn’t expect Flo to be caught so easily and going down were it not for the ropes, especially by Moyo. As I’ve said before, Flo is a star in the making he just has to take care not being too predictable.

Don’t get us wrong GGP, we all support and cheer for Flo when he is in the ring, and yes, Saturday night’s fight surprised most of us. Having said that, expressing our opinions does not mean we don’t like or won’t support such a talented fighter. We are proud of what Flo has achieved so far and we will continue being fans.

Every boxer has their off fights where things just don’t go according to plans or the way fans expect them to go. With every fight a boxer learns and gains experience. This was a learning curve for Flo. We as fans are entitled to express joy as well as disappointment (with the necessary respect of course). Flo, we are still fans whether you win or loose and we believe you have a bright future ahead.

This article made me think, and I have to agree. Thankfully the burden of “having to knock everyone out” has been lifted from his shoulders. Alot of negative comments could be lifted against Flo … but I’m sure Flo and Harold will take this fight and build on it.

Meaning, that I’m sure that Flo will emerge better and better next time.

Somewhere in his career, Flo needed to go the full distance.. he needs that kind of experience.

Flo ….. still right behind you brother !!!

What people need to realize is that these young stars like Muller, Flo, Tommy, Hekkie, Jason etc will not always win their fights or win by KO’s. The best in the world have not always won or won by KO’s, but they go back and do it better. Christo is right, with every fight you learn and improve. Lets all cheer for the young stars everytime they fight, win, loose or draw. They are still our stars.

A record of 0-2 for Moyo doesn’t exactly make him a great challenge for Flo. For what it’s worth I felt like a lot of Flo’s flaws were exposed. Lazy jab being one of them. Fortunately for Flo, better to work on these things early on in his career. He is a dangerous fighter in the making. Good luck to him.

I don’t know……flow need to learn skills and alot of them,5 fights don’t make him a world beater he still has a long way to go before we say he is world class.
Not a bad fighter but he will have stand up if he want’s to be world class.
No disrespect to him just take it from who it comes.

Okay i saw Elvis moyo prepare this fight with the brutal cold blooded Zack The black warrior Mwekassa..(sparring partener to Holyfield, francois botha, corrie sanders, 7 foot nickolay valued)

Elvis Sparred Mwekassa for 6 round 2 times a week
though he got almost knocked out every time Mwekassa unleashed his explosiv fluries of Big left hooks followed by uppercuts to the body and head He showed resiliance
Mwekassa must have thought him some tricks on how the unload on flo
and i saw him teach Elvis how to constently move his head
we could all see big improvement on Elvis.
My dream is to see Mwekassa Train with harold volbrecth it will be a deadly combo.

Flo is a burgeoning young prospect, albeit one of South Africa’s most exciting in years, and we at GGP have certainly not said he’s a world beater (not yet that is) but the kid does have an abundance of talent, charisma and dedication and right now that’s good enough for us.
