Fernandes Confident That His “Badman” Can Bust Up Dlamini!

Trainer Manny Fernandes has always been noted for his confidence and prior to his IBO Africa lightweight champion Jason “Badman” Bedeman’s title defence against Bongani Dlamini on June 19 at Emperors Palace, the Rosettenville-based mentor seemed even more sparked up than usual. “Dlamini has been shooting off at the mouth and we’re going to teach him a painful lesson in manners” said Fernandes, whose been voted this country’s Trainer of the Year on several occasions. “Make no mistake he (Dlamini) is a talented boxer but come June 19 he’ll learn the price of having a motor-mouth and I’m stating here and now that Jason will bust him up real good en route to retaining his crown”.

Clearly the majority of experts are split as to the likely result of this eagerly awaited 12-round bout, many as it happens, citing Dlamini’s lavish skill and two-fisted combinations as certified plus factors. “Bedeman always comes to fight, he’s like a rampant bull-terrier” said Gary Pretorius of Golden Gloves Promotions. “But this fight won’t be won and lost purely on belligerence, but rather on which fighter adapts better to coping with the other’s style. In Bedeman’s case it’s clearly a matter of ploughing forward regardless, winging punches with deadly intent, while Dlamini is an ultra-slick counter-puncher whose natural skill has already been marvelled at by several long-serving pen-pushers”.

Golden Gloves Promoter Rodney Berman feels that the Bedeman-Dlamini bout is the perfect example of why boxing is such a compelling social attraction. “It’s the age old story of a top young fighter meeting a top young boxer, and despite what anyone says, that always makes for a great fight, especially at this early stage of their respective careers”.

Bedeman is undefeated as a professional and his knockout stats have been highly impressive en route to this 20-year-old from the Southern Suburbs winning both the IBO Africa and WBA Pan African lightweight titles. Conversely the trigger-fisted Dlamini has suffered only one setback in seven starts but is improving in leaps and bounds and is willing to bet on himself ahead of this crunch confrontation.

Manny Fernandes, however, won’t hear of his boxer being beaten at this junction of his career and concluded by saying, “Dlamini will think he’s surrounded on the night, because the punches will be coming so fast and furious that he won’t have time for show-boating and nauseating antics. Jason will knock him out…pure and simple!”

Sorry Mr. Fernandes I’m going to disagree with you on this one, Bongani will stop the Bad –Man In the 9th round, the show-boating and the class of young Bongani will become too much for Jason, he’ll run in and want to prove a point and run into a big hook. “Ding-Ding-Ding” and it’s all over!

I do agree “Keep it real” your words are so descriptive, Jason needs to prove us that the pull out of the two other tounements was unintentionally, and that the two “JABS” was lack reactions and not a sigh of a weak jaw.
    Good luck Bad-Man.
