How the experts see the “Declaration of War”!

Who do some of the experts, other than officials with both training camps- think is going to win the “DECLARATION OF WAR” contest between IBO super middleweight champion Isaac “The Golden Boy” Chilemba and Tommy “Tommy Gun” Oosthuizen on November 6 at Emperors Palace.

Both boxers, the 23-year-old Chilemba and the 21-year-old Oosthuizen have exhibited great confidence going into this bust-up, but they’re hardly neutral observers!

DAVE ISAACSON: (For Chilemba)
Long serving boxing scribe.
“I like Chilemba. I think the champion is stronger, has fought a better crop of opposition and as the titleholder should have a new found pride after winning his first world championship! Moreover, Oosthuizen has been known to take his foot off the pedal in some fights, like the Lovett match, and Chilemba with a more refined technique could take great advantage and win an interesting decision.”

COLIN NATHAN: (Neutral)
Boxing trainer.
“I think a lot of people have underestimated Chilemba! He is the champion now and will, I believe, fight like one. In fact, while Tommy is the harder hitter with the longer reach, the Malawi-born champion has just the style to give him fits. I tend to think this will end up being a “split” points decision either way.

JOHNNY DU PLOOY: (For Oosthuizen)
Boxing trainer:
“A really tough fight to call! Look I really like Oosthuizen, but he’ll have to take charge in this bout, if he’s to take the crown, nothing like he did against Lovett when both fighters appeared wary of each other’s power. I wouldn’t, however disregard Isaac’s chances because he’s won the IBO super middleweight title and will feel really confident about keeping it. No knockdowns here, but a close points verdict to Tommy, based on his jab, movement and ripping boy-punches.

CLINTON VAN DER BERGH: (For Oosthuizen)
Former Sports Editor of Sunday Times, whose subsequently joined SuperSport.
“I like Oosthuizen because I think he’s a better boxer who’s improving all the time. No doubt this contest will go the full-12 rounds, but by then I feel the taller and slicker Oosthuizen will have done enough to win a close points decision and with it the IBO world super middleweight title”.

ANDRE THYSEE: (For Oosthuizen)
Former SA super middleweight champion.
“It’s a nice match on paper, but will it be as nice in the ring? Personally I see Tommy tracking down Isaac before applying the finish somewhere near the 8th round”.

MANNY FERNANDES: (Neutral)
Boxing Trainer:
“Tommy is undoubtedly the betting favourite when you consider his power, tenacity and southpaw style, which is, however, essentially that of a counter-puncher! Yet I’ve been watching Chilemba and I consider him very underrated! Personally I think Tommy can get beaten in this fight but will the champion move the right way, do the correct things and throw the right punches”.

To take the belt you have to beat the champ. That means take the title, not just do enough. Oosthuizen has got enough in him to do that.

This fight has become personal. Tommy’s extremely hungry for Isaac, and agree with Britt, its gonna be a war from the word go! Can’t see the fight lasting longer than 6/7 rounds.

So in my eyes Tommy is ready and willing to give Isaac a night to remember.
Tommy Gun is going to be the new IBO Champion.

I dont think you people realise that once you become a champion, you only get better. Chelembe is young, talented and hungry. I think he’s more determinede than tommy boy. Isaac on points or late stoppage.

Isaac is not a knockout artist. And tommy only knocked out south african opponents. As soon as he stepped up a level he could only win on points. That tells me he’s a puncher but not a world class puncher. Big difference. I haven’t seen any other local boxer with Isaac’s talent. Speed, combinations

Isaac cot the hand speed give him that .The reason he can not knock people out because he doesn’t punch he slaps. If Tommy only knock out S.A. boxers this one will not be a problem since Isaac has been staying in S.A. for so long ,he is considered a S.A boxer.

Dikebu golden Palace is divided between the two pugilists on November the 6th. Some think because Isaac has fought more fights and has fought better opponents than Tommy, thus he will win on the day. The other core believes Tommy gun has the fighting style of a cat and will easily beat The Golden Boy within 12 rounds. Beware and watchout boxing fans of Emperors Palace, because Dikebu possesses The best lightweight to ever come out of SA, “Luckyboy The Genius” Monyebane is on his way!

This fight is personal, and personally i can’t say that the fight is going to go the Distance… My prediction is Chilembe on the Canvas round 3 and second taste of the Canvas round 8 with a TKO. Brace Yourself “SissyBoy”

I know it’s a personal fight, but personally i dont see the fight going the distance, Chilembe on the canvas in round 3, and then the rings light will go of for chilembe in round 8 kissing the canvas goodnight while he sees 2 referee’s countin to 10 (There will be only one Referee tho)
