Munyai Is Looking At IBO Bantamweight Title After February!

Tshifhiwa “The Atomic Spider” Munyai (18-1-1) is setting his sights on the IBO world bantamweight title! That is according to Golden Gloves Promotions CEO Rodney Berman. “It was reported this week in a daily newspaper that the reigning IBO champion (Simphiwe Vetyeka) will soon relinquish his title in order to pursue other goals” said Berman, “and based on that assumption, we will certainly be interested in having Munyai challenge for the vacant title”.

Nevertheless, any prospective IBO championship-tilt will have to wait until after February 27, at Emperors Palace, when Munyai defends his WBA Intercontinental bantamweight crown against Daniel Ferreras of the Philippines. “Naturally we feel confident that Munyai will win his next fight, although in this game you never can tell” added Berman. “But if he comes through with flying colours, as we expect him to do, he’ll definitely be going for the IBO world championship next”.

Golden Gloves signed the exceptionally talented Munyai late last year and Berman feels that he’s unquestionably one of the hottest and most exciting young fighters in the country.

Moreover, Munyai is coached by a long-time business operative of GGP, namely Elias Tshabalala, who also happens to be a trusted friend. “With Elias at the helm I feel confident that Munyai will develop into a complete package and come February 27 at Emperors Palace, a lot of fight fans will see –first hand –what a riveting pugilist he really is”.

And when it comes to assembling his line-up for the June 18 boxing extravaganza at Emperors Palace, Berman confessed that Munyai was one of the most attractive and popular options at his disposal, though of course, everything depends on what happens at Emperors Palace Casino.
