Munyai Ready To Fight Winner Of Blistering WBA Title Fight!

South Africa’s WBA Intercontinental bantamweight titleholder Tshifhiwa “the Atomic Spider” Munyai (19-1-1) is ready to fight the winner of Saturday night’s WBA world bantamweight title bout between the present champion Anselimo Moreno of Panama and the Interim belt wearer Nehomar Cermeno of Venezuela! So says Golden Gloves Promoter Rodney Berman. “We know that both Cermeno (19-0-0) and Moreno (28-1-1) own excellent fight pedigrees, but given the sublime talent of the 24-year-old Munyai and his ongoing rate of improvement, we’re pulling out all the stops to ensure that he gets a championship tilt at the victor of Saturday night’s bout, which takes place in Venezuela” said Berman.

Given Berman’s present crop of WBA international champions like Munyai, Jason Bedeman (WBA Pan African lightweight champion) and Tommy Oosthuizen (WBA Pan African super middleweight champion), as well as his fine working relationship with internationally celebrated boxing official Stan Christodoulou, it’s hardly surprising that the CEO of GGP is so interested in the result of Saturday night’s fight, which according to foreign media reports is expected to be a blistering affair. “Frankly I’m not too worried who triumphs on the night, because I feel confident that Munyai can beat both fighters. Moreover, we’re prepared to move heaven and earth to bring the winner of Saturday night’s contest to South Africa to defend his crown against Munyai in August.”

Especially pleased to once again be working with the WBA, Berman added, “Our June extravaganza at Emperors Palace is naturally going to be a gala event, and it would have been nice to include Munyai on that fight roster, but we’ve decided that because of the enormity of having the WBA back in South Africa, and the period of preparation Munyai will need, an August championship date would be far more beneficial to everyone involved. Certainly one can never forget the profound influence the WBA has had on the destiny of South African fighters in the past and GGP are committed to strengthening our ties with the Venezuela-based organization along with certain other sanctioning groups”.

Interestingly, when pressed for an opinion on who he figures will win Saturday night’s bantamweight shootout, Berman replied, “They nickname Moreno ‘Chemito’ and from what I’ve been able to assess he could have a slight edge. Having said that, he hasn’t come up against the Atomic Spider yet and I’m really confident we’ll soon have another bona fide WBA world champion in South Africa”.

Looks like this is gonna take a while. Saturdays bout between Cermeno and Moreno was far from a clear cut winner and there is talk of rematches…

Indeed, and that means a bout with the eventual winner of the rematch might now have to wait until November!
