Simba Will Be The Next Great Heavyweight – Pellulo!

American Promoter Art Pellulo is convinced that unbeaten heavyweight sensation Flo “The Demolition Man” Simba (3-0, 3 knockouts) will become one of the great dreadnought attractions in international boxing.

Indeed, after seeing the 20-year-old Simba stop Stephen Castle in the fourth round of their bout at Emperors Palace on Saturday night, the hard-talking Pellulo could not hide his excitement. “Man, this kid has talent” enthused the boss of Banner Promotions. “And I’ve been told that he only had six amateur fights before turning professional” said Pellulo.

Accustomed as he is to seeing rainbows that fade, Pellulo -whose the business associate of Golden Gloves Promoter Rodney Berman – added; “Given Simba’s age, power, talent and size, I fully expect to see him develop into a powerful 97 kg heavyweight who will set the international scene alight, especially in an age when the division has lost a lot of it’s vibrancy”.

Golden Gloves Promoter rodney Berman was quick to concur. “Yes, Simba is an unusually exciting ‘find’ and we intend to market him extremely judiciously over the next two years, with extensive exposure in the United States. Naturally, because of his academic studies, Simba won’t be able to campaign for lengthy period abroad, but he will certainly feature on a number of overseas bills during the next eight months”.

An amiable and articulate personality with the looks of a film star, Simba has literally taken the local boxing scene by storm and his trainer Harold Volbrecht struggles to suppress his entusiasm when discussing the university student’s potential.

“Flo is one of the most marketable boxers I’ve ever trainer” said the Hammer, and we’ll work exceptionally hard over the next six months to hone his skills to perfection”.

Indeed a raging thunder of a heavyweight, he has all the characteristic of the world champion we were waiting for the last two years {Speed, Power, he’s ring wise} he has tremendous amount of talent on he’s side. The fight with Muller and Flo will be great fight but we want to see Flo fighting fighters from other countries. But yes such derby could make a good show. :-)

I fully agree Ronel and Tanya, Simba looks good but remember he is already a year or two older than Johnny Muller and I think Johnny has a better chance of developing into a great fighter. I honestly don’t think Flo has what it takes against Johnny’s deadly and powerful right hand.

Oh another exiting discussion and one that is long overdue. Flo Simba vs Johnny Muller, that is if GGP has the guts to put Simba up against Muller. I personally don’t think Simba is ready for the power of Johnny Muller who is absolutely our best heavyweight prospect. So how about it GGP?

Muller is a dangerous puncher and the guy doesn’t know what backwards means. I’ve been to most of his fights and they are explosive. It’s too risky a fight for Flo. Doubt GGP will entertain that. Castle highlighted some defensive weaknesses with Flo which would be exploited by Muller. But hey, we can hope for this clash in the future. A more intellegent move would be for GGP to sign up Muller.

If GGP wanted to sign up Muller at this point in time, we would have done so. As for Simba vs Muller, GGP have already addressed that issue in previous correspondence.

Lovett and Oosthuizen were both our fighters and a lot of thought went into matching them against each other. As things are, Simba’s course has already been plotted and young Mr Muller will no doubt be afforded similar consideration by the people who guide his career.

Does that mean that you don’t know Terry or that GGP doesn’t know. Johnny can be such a huge draw card for GGP even more than Flo Simba. Johnny is to me what a heavy weight is all about. This 19 year old has a lot of room to grow and he isn’t scared to land his powerful blows. I agree Britt, we can make a huge difference and we are the onces buying the tickets. I personally would pay anything to be at every fight Johnny Muller fights.

    Well.
Tanya you know what you are right we are the once buying the tickets but we would like to get what our money are worth. I like Johnny he really is a great Heavyweight well I think he should fight Thabiso Mchunu then we can say he’s the best Cruiserweight in South-Africa hands down. I say put that fight on and let Flo follow another path and may they meet one day.

Thabiso Mchunu is an “excellent” prospect, but whether Johnny Muller would best him is open to question. Watch this space for a forthcoming announcement on the power puncher from the Free State!

Lets face it guys Mchunu is an excellent fighter and I respect his talent and I doubt whether there is a cruiserweight that can beat him at the moment. I know for a fact that Johnny really wants to fight heavyweight and not cruiser. Remember he is only 19 years old now and is approx 92 – 94 kgs at present. He still has time to grow and could be a 97/98 kg heavyweight. I was browsing the web the other day and saw on 13th round boxing that they were mentioning 65 heavyweight prospects around the world and Johnny Muller was the only heavyweight mentioned from SA. Surely we as fellow citizens should recognise this and try to develop this young guy’s talent, doesn’t matter which promotor you are. Is it not more important to achieve success for SA rather than undermine such a talent?

So true, Tanya and Britt. Come on GGP, do what you can to sign up this guy. I’ve known Muller for years and believe me when I say that this youngster eats, sleeps and breathes boxing. He is so dedicated, his programme never stops, not on weekends or holidays. He doesn’t touch alcholol or tobacco. He is hungry and determined but needs the right guidance.

On another note (but also applicable to this one) I went to see the SA Heavyweight Championship yesterday at NASREC. What a disappointment! With all due respect to the two fighters, they are no match against the Johnny Muller I’ve seen in action. Goodness, I even think Flo Simba could be a good match for them!
