Twenty-two-year-old Joey Stiglingh may be a champion in the making! Unbeaten in eight bouts as a professional, the hard-hitting Stiglingh is yet another Southern Suburbs fighter whose recently come to the fore, much like the embattled Jared “The Storm” Lovett and Jason “Badman” Bedeman. “Joey is a beautifully balanced boxer with a stunning assortment of punches and since turning to the paid ranks in September 2008, he has rattled off eight consecutive wins, five inside the distance” said trainer Colin Nathan. Boxing both as a junior lightweight and lightweight, the Forest Hill-based Stiglingh is scheduled to appear on Golden Gloves Promotions “RISING STARS” tournament at Emperors Palace on July 28, along with other compelling crowd pullers like Tshifhiwa “The Atomic Spider” Munyai, Flo “The Demolition Man” Simba and Johnny “Hurricane” Muller.
“I’ve been watching Joey very closely” said GGP Promoter Rodney Berman, “and feel sure that he has tangible assets such as speed, power and an impressive selection of punches. Indeed, providing he remains focused, Stiglingh may be one of our surprise packages of 2010”.
To date Stiglingh has notched up wins over several popular fighters like Vusumzi Manyoni (TKO 4), Solly Mokoka (KO 3), Gert Aries (TKO 4) and most notably Stephen Ntshingila whom he defeated twice, firstly on points over four rounds and then on a sixth round TKO.
“He continues to improve” said Nathan, “and he has a fine amateur pedigree behind him. Another year or so and I think a helluva lot of people will be focusing their attention on this hard-working young fighter with the blistering handspeed”.

I’ve seen most of Joey’s fights live, he’s got really good movement and looks to be a very polished boxer. Once he’s faught some stiffer competition we’ll see his true class but I think he’s the most under rated fighter in the GGP stable. Other fighters with 8-0 records get mentioned in every article whereas Joey hardly gets a mention. But as this article suggests, maybe thats about to change.

I agree with you Simon. But it seem to be the trend. If you not in a spesific stable you are not mentioned. I think Joey’s has class and he will become a star very soon with of without the help of publicity.
In Collin stable there are two boxers I believe have class and they are defnately Stigling and Budler.
