Amidst the cordial atmosphere of a press conference to announce next Wednesday’s “RISING STARS” tournament at Emperors Palace, emotions suddenly erupted after a fiery exchange of words between two fighters who only attended the function as interested guests. Clearly IBO world super middleweight champion Isaac “The Golden Boy” Chilemba and Tommy “Tommy Gun” Oosthuizen, who will slug it out for the former’s world championship at Emperors Palace in November, foster no personal liking for each other and methinks their mutual belligerence reached boiling point when Oosthuizen alleged that Chilemba’s manager Jody Solomon was in fact the champion’s “girlfriend”. The Malawi-born Chilemba’s response was instantaneous and he openly challenged the undefeated Oosthuizen to fight him there and then. “I could have you up for slander” said a livid Solomon, whose made a point of informing Oosthuizen that he was “in for a hiding”.
The situation almost got totally out of hand before former SA super middleweight titleholder Andre Thysse hurriedly intervened and dragged Oosthuizen away. Even then, though the war of words wasn’t over and while the Tommy Gun was being physically restrained, Chilemba could be heard shouting, “Don’t run away you coward, I’m here and I’m the world champion!” His face a mask of unbridled rage, the 21-year-old Oosthuizen fired one last retaliatory bullet, “You won’t be for long you chump!”
Thirty minutes before the verbal outbursts had begun the crowded press conference was assured that next week’s RISING STARS event would be one of the most rousing tournaments of the year, what with the likes of Tshifhiwa “The Atomic Spider” Munyai, Johnny “Hurricane” Muller and Flo “The Demolition Man” Simba headlining what promises to be an explosive fight card. Man-about-boxing Jeff Ellis certainly played his part in championing the event and Golden Gloves Promotions matchmaker Ruben Rasodi made no bones about seconding that opinion.
The soft-spoken Munyai seemed reasonably convinced that his opponent on the night; Ghana’s Prosper Ankrah, would be a fine tune-up ahead of the Atomic Spider’s WBA International bantamweight title defence at the same venue later this year. Munyai’s experienced mentor Elias Tshabalala echoed his fighter’s sentiments, adding, “Although next week’s bout is a 10-round non-title bout, we’re not taking anything for granted and fully expect the hard-hitting Ghanaian to come out hard and fast”.
Unbeaten heavyweight prospects Johnny “Hurricane” Muller and Flo” The Demolition Man” Simba are both being groomed for international stardom and it follows that their slated six-round bouts against Patrick Madzinga and Insitu Mbaya are “must win” outings. “They’re two excellent youngsters and I aim to market them alongside each other during the next eighteen months” said GGP Promoter Rodney Berman.
Lightweight hopeful Joey Stiglingh is also unbeaten as a professional, but there are those pundits who feel he may his hands full when he squares up to the underrated Joseph Modise over 6 heats.
Basil Ray and Anthony van Niekerk have now packed away their mitts in exchange for training boxers and their collective experience will be needed when Ronnie Lategan steps into the ring to face Jerry Hlaoele over six rounds in a cruiserweight fight.
Other bouts on the RISING STARS roster include four-round contests between Ashley Dlamini and Raymond Bloem (lightweight) and Sylvester Zaki and Daniel Leshaba (middleweight).

I don’t want to say much more from Team Tommy-Gun’s camp, all I could assure Jody and Isaac we’ll rather die befor losing to someone like Isaac Chilmbe.
They all step into the ring with The King, but none succeeded with Tommy-Gun
Jared,Saul, Tshepang.
Please people we could match this fight up until next year but come 2010-11-06.

Howzit I have been reading your wed for the past 3 years never comment but have my thoughts. First Thomas is the reeldeal his amazing cant remember the last boxer I have seen fight like he does. He has talent. Second Budler, boxer with so much guts he showed he can take it and deserved that title IBO. But on this moment I like Jason what a fighter cant wait to see him agian. As for Flo and Johnny dont push them they are still young and dont have the experience for the big ones (Osborn Venter Nel) heavyweight only start to peek in there 30′s. Thomas pls go and knock Isaac out I know you can.

I am definately flying up there for this one! Nice for Tommy to have got the first “cheapshot” in there and a a riled up response from the champion means ITS ON!!!

Tommy will beat Isaac any day.The only reason Isaac had words with Tommy at the press conference is for Tommy to loose his cool with Isaac so Tommy can take a swing at Isaac. They will then make a case against Tommy, were he properly will have a hearing ,where he will be ban .That is what they want because they are scared of Tommy.Isaac on the night of the fight don’t go looking for Tommy. He will be right in front of you. That is if you don’t pull out off the fight for some pathetic reason .

I think someone must wake Isaac up and tell him to smell the coffee.
Tommy is to slick for Isaac and has the handspeed of a bantam weight so lets wait and see who is gonna be the winner.
Clearly Tommy Gun.

“Keep it real” you clearly don’t know boxing at all sorry to say but for you to say that Tommy has not fought any body reasonable please go back to the drawing board your chirps are lame, first of all just to burst that bubble for you Tommy fought Tshepang Mohale now if you know your boxing you could calculate that Tshepang Mohale beat Kgotso Motau now lets see didn’t they say his like the best Super-middleweight in South-Africa not long ago?
Then Thomas Awinbono now I know it was a very boring en-counter but Tommy-gun killed him and if you could recall didn’t Thomas Awinbono fight Martin Murray…..
Now let’s go to the Mexican stallion, Saul Roman fought Yuri Foreman! Isn’t it?
He fought and beat Luis Ramon Campas enough said or must I go on?

If seen Chilemba Sparring and his Good in the Sparring sessions he looks the part but when it comes to Boxing night his dead, You must still remember he is not a super middle and Tommy is a Natural Super Middle ,I’ve got a funny feeling some lame excuse will surface closer to the date that Chilemba will back out They are Nervous to fight Tommy Now (who does the saying go Easy come easy go)The title came on a silver platter The title is Tommy`s and he will take it back in great fashion (he will be the best Super Middle weight on this planet.

Britt, I cannot agree with you there. He is nothing more then a brawler. His style is good enough to take hime through another few fights and then he will get dominated by a boxer. He is a windmill.

For now Classy Watch this space he’ll be groomed into a South-African champ, Mr. Harold is brilliant when it come to grooming and moulding he’s fighters
