‘Tommy Gun’ Oosthuizen will be shipping off to the US in 2012
The ante has just been upped for Tommy Oosthuizen.
With a tricky assignment in a fortnight against big-hitting Francisco Sierra, he cannot afford to lose. This is doubly so because US promoter Lou Di Bella, a long-time associate of Rodney Berman, has pencilled him in for two HBO shows in the US in 2012. One of the immediate consequences is that Oosthuizen falls off a fight date in Italy in February, replacing it with a far bigger assignment in the US.
“Next year could be the year of reckoning for Tommy,” said Berman. “He needs to keep winning, and winning well.”
Another significant change sees Johnny Muller moving off the “Grand Slam” bill at Emperors Palace on November 23. This is because of doubts over his opponent, Joe Saaba of Ghana.
“The opponent hasn’t measured up to initial indications,” said Berman. “I need Johnny to be in a meaningful fight. We will now scour around for a more credible opponent and Johnny will thus feature on Pat Molefe’s next bill on December 11.”
Exciting lightweight Joey Stiglingh will replace Muller at Emperors Palace.
Meanwhile, fight fans can see their favourite Golden Gloves boxers when they make a public appearance at Classé Cars at 73 Trichardt Road in Boksburg from noon this Saturday.

Ag no Mr B, how can this be done to fans, we were so looking forward to see Johnny fight on the bill. First bill at Wits his opponent was too heavy and now his opponent doesn’t measure up…..very disappointing!

Glad for Joey but sad for Muller. Surely Muller’s opponent’s status/record was known when the fight was arranged at the start! Why wait 2 weeks before a guy is supposed to fight on such a big bill to remove him and place him yet again on such a small bill? could this not have been done a few weeks ago? Not so nice…

Suppose you make the rules here and you have your reasons Mr Berman. A real pity Johnny is not on this bill. Congrats Joey!

I’m looking forward to this explosive bill, Tommy should be good if he boxes like he did in his last fight. Stigling always exiting to watch, unfortunate for Muller will miss him on the night

Good morning My GOLDEN GLOVES PROMOTIONS FAMILY.
At the public sparring on Saturday, great venue, marvelous vibe and good people, but there was just one thing that got me confused, where on earth was Rodney? How could the whole of the GGP campaign be there witnessing some “Sheer-Class” by Oosthuizen and the rest of the GGP stable, but yet no Rodney?

Tommy will have a very very tough fight on his hands. Just keep the hands up Tommy! Suppose it was too short notice to find another opponent for Muller, its a pity.

LOL I’m just as disappointed about Muller guys. The mates were looking forward to a trip up to Joburg. This would have been the perfect platform for his comeback.
