Flo Simba and Tommy Oosthuizen with Peermont’s Vusi Zwane
Assuming that all goes according to plan on June 4, both Flo Simba and Tommy Oosthuizen will have their next outings in the US.
In a massive break for the Golden Gloves fighters, top US promoter Lou Di Bella will feature both on big shows that will be broadcast on HBO. This guarantees massive exposure and is a grand opportunity for both to make a statement.
Di Bella’s intention is to feature Oosthuizen on an Andre Berto undercard, tentatively scheduled for between late August and early October. And Simba will feature on the undercard of middleweight champion Sergio Martinez’s defence, now set for October 1 or 8.
“This is tremendous news,” said Rodney Berman. “Lou has a reputation for developing talent. There’s no-one better, so we’re all delighted by the plan, although both must win their fights, of course.”
Simba meets Francois Botha, while Oosthuizen will box William Gare.
In a bonus for fight fans, Simba and Fransie Botha will have separate public sparring sessions at Harold Volbrecht’s gym (next to Rand Stadium in Johannesburg’s south) on Tuesday.
Simba will spar at 12 noon, with Botha due to do so at 2pm. Members of the public are welcome to attend.

It’s the best thing that could happen to these two fighters, some American television will only do them good.
For what it’s worth I can’t wait for the 4 of June it’s going to be something worth watching.
