Exciting Luzuko Siyo will make his Gauteng debut in March

Top prospect Luzuko Siyo has already blown away boxing fans in the Eastern Cape.

Now it’s the turn of Gauteng fight fans to see the country’s best young fighter in action.

The unbeaten SA light-flyweight champion will make his up-country debut at Emperors Palace on March 3, on the undercard of Hekkie Budler’s IBO championship fight, when he fights for the WBC intercontinental youth title.

Siyo replaces heavyweight aspirant Kevin Lerena on the card, with lerena now appearing on Jeff Ellis’ bill on March 27.

Last November Siyo was named winner of the Terry Pettifer Prospect of the Year award, a prize he collected after running up a flawless 10-0 (8 KOs) record.

“I’ve seen him fight live a few times and he’s dynamite,” says former world champion-turned-commentator Brian Mitchell. “I suspect the Joburg crowds will really enjoy him.”

Siyo fights under the tutorship of trainer Mzi Mnguni, who has fought through hard times and yet always triumphs by discovering new talent.

“I don’t know how he does it,” says Rodney Berman of Golden Gloves. “Not only are top prospects drawn to him, he has the knack of turning them into champions.”

Local fans will get to see the results for themselves on March 3.

Mzi is a businessman and he has made a good business decision to associate Siyo with Golden Gloves
