The death of boxing aficionado Terry Pettifer in November 2010 marked a tremendous blow to the SA boxing industry, but is also created an opportunity to celebrate the country’s finest young fighters.
Determined to honour Pettifer’s memory in perpetuity, promoter Rodney Berman initiated the Pettifer Prospect of the Year award. This will be presented annually to the best aspirant as chosen by a select panel of media members.
The intention is not only to acknowledge the best emerging fighter, but to provide him with the impetus to go on to bigger and better things.
The award will not be limited to Golden Gloves boxers.
