On Thursday morning, at 10:am, IBO super middleweight champion Isaac “The Golden Boy” Chilemba (15-1) and his challenger Tommy “Tommy Gun” Oosthuizen (11-0) come head-to-head, well almost, when they go on a television show in the company of Golden Gloves Promoter Rodney Berman, ahead of their EXTRAVAGANZA at Emperors Palace on November 6, which has appropriately been named “DECLARATION OF WAR”.
In the interest of boxing, a signed pair of GGP gloves will be available for a lucky caller during the show, and the CEO of GGP has also thrown in a number of free tickets as a give-away.
While the entire bill promises a cracking event, involving: former two-time world champion Malcolm Klassen fighting Vinvin Ruffino of the Philippines for the vacant WBC International super featherweight; two-time Africa lightweight titleholder Jason “Badman” Bedeman against Daniel Dorrego of the Argentine, and an international heavyweight bout between Argentine’s Mauro Adrian Ordiales and our wicked punching sensation Flo Simba, the main focus is of course on Chilemba and Ooshuizen.
By the way, the tournament starts when a talented and keenly expectant Grant “The Fireball” Fourie takes on Bongani Dlamini over 8-rounds at lightweight. Two exceptional boxers this is an interesting time in their lives to fight and the winner will certainly know that he’s earned his victory.
When Isaac Chilemba’s trainer Jody Solomons heard that her protégé and Ooshuizen will be staring at each other with only the patrician face of Rodney Berman between them, the camps collectively elected to send a few more acolytes as a ‘support’ measure.
“That the two finally agreed meeting before the pre-fight medical surprised me” said a neutral camp follower, “There’s certainly no love lost between them and I’m willing to bet that the victor will find this the most gratifying moment of his ring career”.
Both excellent boxers, there is no doubt that the 21-year-old Oosthuizen owns the finer brace of knockout blows, though Chilemba’s digs do come from a far more defensive ambit.
Is the 23-year-old Chilemba able to handle what the ‘Gun’-as he’s been popularly called of late- dishes out in way of belligerence? Will the clever-boxing Chilemba opt for a more aggressive-tactical plan, where despite all the blaring blah about Tommy winning in seven rounds, the challenger climbs through the ropes to find he’s the ‘prey’ and not so much the ‘hunter’. No question: Oosthuizen’s personal quips hurt the champion and when Isaac said; “I’ll wiper that smile off you face”-he meant it.
Now for Thursday’s television interview!

As long at there is a body like the BSA running boxing in this country you can forget about marketing of the sport.

on behalf of most GGP staff I cant think of a more friendly relationship ship than that which exists between jody and elias, and in my opinion they are both like manager’s and trainer’s. Jeff Ellis
